| NOVEMBER 11, 2024 ENBRIDGE REPORTED APPROX. 2 GALLONS OF CRUDE OIL WAS DISCOVERED NEAR A BURIED UNIT VALVE ON A PIPELINE AT THE INCIDENT LOCATION. RESPONSE WORK INCLUDES: HAND AND HYDRO EXCAVATING, INVESTIGATING LEAK. LEAK IDENTIFIED: FAILED GASKET FLANGE.
11/12/24 - HYDRO EXCAVATED LARGER EXCAVATION, AND GASKET REPAIR COMPLETED.
ESTIMATE OF AMOUNT RELEASED INCREASING AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
12/3/24 UPDATE RECEIVED FROM ENBRIDGE VIA EMAIL.
12/6/24 DNR STAFF MET WITH ENBRIDGE AND THEIR CONSULTANT. APPROX 2,000 TONS OF SOIL HAS BEEN EXCAVATED, & POSSIBLY 8,000 GAL OILY WATER COLLECTED. GEOPROBE BORINGS & TEMP WELLS INSTALLATION SCHEDULED TO START 12/10.
SPILL IS BEING TRANSFERRED TO AN ENVIRONMENTAL REPAIR PROGRAM CASE. CONTINUING INVESTIGATION AND REMEDIATION WILL BE TRACKED IN BRRTS CASE 02-28-595980.
