CITY OF MADISON: City of Madison Japanese Knotweed Wetland Control
The City of Madison Engineering Division is sponsoring a project to control and monitor some new sites of knotweed in Madison that are in proximity to water or wetlands.Project activities: control of Japanese knotweed at 10 sites across Madison by timely and repeated mowing or cutting, and herbicide application. Treatments are required to be repeated, and follow-up monitoring will determine if and when retreatments are needed. Some sites may be reseeded with native seed.Project deliverables include: pre/post photos of sites in a report to document treatment activities, and document results. The goal of the project is to eradicate knotweed at each site.Specific project conditions: Grantee will obtain WDNR\2019s Aquatic Plant Management permits as required by law for sites adjacent to water.This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lakes Biologist.
