DOOR COUNTY: Door County AIS Plant Control
Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department is sponsoring a project to inventory and control purple loosestrife and Japanese knotweed as they occur throughout Door County and inventory and control non-native phragmites along waterways and areas adjacent to partner project areas. Efforts will encompass existing data sets and utilize new data sets to target high priority areas.Project final deliverables include: 1) Generate a targeted map identifying areas that are of high ecological importance and highly susceptible to the invasion of phragmites; 2) inventory target areas for phragmites and inventory purple loosestrife and Japanese Knotweed areas; 3) Implement treatments using best management practices for a minimum of two consecutive years to reduce populations of phragmites, purple loosestrife, and Japanese knotweed and minimize the spread into new areas; 4) Monitor treatment progress and update databases; 5) Develop final report summarizing the project.This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
