DOOR COUNTY: Door County AIS Plant Control
Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department is sponsoring a project to inventory and control purple loosestrife and Japanese knotweed as they occur throughout Door County and inventory and control non-native phragmites along waterways and areas adjacent to partner project areas. Efforts will encompass existing data sets and utilize new data sets to target high priority areas.
Project final deliverables include: 1) Generate a targeted map identifying areas that are of high ecological importance and highly susceptible to the invasion of phragmites; 2) inventory target areas for phragmites and inventory purple loosestrife and Japanese Knotweed areas; 3) Implement treatments using best management practices for a minimum of two consecutive years to reduce populations of phragmites, purple loosestrife, and Japanese knotweed and minimize the spread into new areas; 4) Monitor treatment progress and update databases; 5) Develop final report summarizing the project.
