DOOR COUNTY: Door County AEPP

Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department proposes to conduct education, prevention and planning activities to control and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) within Door County during the period of 2014-2015. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Door County Aquatic Species Grant application dated 7/30/2013, and revised on 10/03/2013. The project includes work that will be conducted on a Statewide AIS Source Water with 50% or more of the time being spent on Lake Michigan. The Door County AISC will participate in the Fourth of July Landing Blitz, continue to install new State AIS signs and continue partnerships with local law enforcement regarding NR 40 issues. Monitoring and mapping of aquatic invasive species will continue throughout the project as well as conducting 200 hours of CBCW per year. Annual progress reports and a final report summarizing the project will be provided to the DNR. If a consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR AIS Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR is to receive both paper and electronic pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee's final payment request. Any publications or signs produced as part of this project will incorporate the "Stop Aquatic Hitchhickers!" brand.
