YELLOW BIRCH CONSERVATION UNION: Yellow Birch Lake Comprehensive Management Plan, Phase I
The Yellow Birch Conservation Union will sponsor a two-phase project to complete a comprehensive lake management plan for Yellow Birch Lake. Activities for phase I include: watershed delineation and land use mapping, phosphorus modeling including both internal and external sources, water quality monitoring to establish a baseline for future long-term trends monitoring, an education program for lake stakeholders to enhance their understanding of the affects of landuse on water quality Products include: 1. Map of existing watershed land uses 2. Water quality data into DNR database 3. News release to local newspapers 4. Article about project in Yellow Birch Conservation Union Newsletter 5. Yellow Birch Lake Comprehensive Management Plan Development Project Progress Report (at halfway point) 6. Lake management plan including implementation recommendations (including the above products and those in phase II) The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
