DOOR COUNTY: Dunes Lake Watershed Study Ph 3
Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department proposes to continue to assess surface and groundwater impacts to Geisel Creek and Dunes Lakes in a multi-phased project. Phase 3 will focus on the role of groundwater in the water budget and nutrient loading in Geisel Creek and Dunes Lake through the delineation of the hydrologic connections between surface and groundwater in the watershed. Specifically, phase 3 will contract with UW-Madison graduate student to investigate the hydrology of the Dunes Lake watershed, determine a water budget for Dunes Lake, delineate the zone of groundwater contribution to at least three springs, evaluate the nutrients present in groundwater and surface water samples taken throughout the watershed, investigate the use of viral tracing from the treatment ponds, and develop a final report.
