HOOKER LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: 2011 Watershed & Water Quality /Levels Study
The Hooker Lake Management District will hire a contractor to study the impact of stormwater discharging into Hooker Lake, especially from the STH 83 road expansion. Nutrient samples will be taken from three tributaries to Hooker Lake a total of 7 times. The project deliverable will be a report containing the following elements: 1) inventory of existing water quality data; 2) results of 7 sampling events on three tributaries; 3) use of the field data to run UAL and WILMS models; 4) results of a recreational use survey; 5) results of a shoreline condition survey; 6) mapping of environmental corridors; 7) results of historical map analysis to determine changes in Hooker Lake surface area over time; 8) conclusions from the study and management recommendations; 9) an assessment of whether STH 83 stormwater contributes significant nutrient loading to Hooker Lake and 10) minutes from a public informational meeting discussing the results of the study.
