Lists facilities that have a reported historical use as a dry cleaning facility. This is only a listing of known remediation sites with a cleanup of contamination that may be related to dry cleaning substances. Some of the facilities are also enrolled in the Dry Cleaner Environmental Response Program (DERP). The DNR does not regulate or license dry cleaning facilities. The “status” provided in this list only refers to cleanup activities and not the operation of the facility.

Lists self-identified environmental service providers, including environmental consultants and contractors. The DNR does not endorse nor certify the qualifications of the listed entities. To be added to this list, please email Jenny Meyer.

The U.S.-Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement [exit DNR] defines an Area of Concern (AOC) as "a geographic area designated by the Parties where significant impairment of beneficial uses has occurred as a result of human activities at the local level." An AOC is a location that has experienced environmental degradation. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other state and federal agencies are working to restore AOCs in the Great Lakes basin, five of which are in Wisconsin.

Lists locations where a lien or notice of contamination associated with a cleanup activity was recorded at the local registry of deeds.

Lists open incidents currently being investigated and evaluated.

Lists activities where contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) was confirmed. PFAS data related to open spill incidents is not available at this time.

Lists cleanup activities where the DNR took actions using the state's Environmental Fund. The state may take action when the responsible party is unknown or is unable or unwilling to pay for the necessary investigation and/or remediation. The list does not include locations where DNR provided temporary emergency drinking water or DNR responses to emergency spills or abandoned containers. The data are updated following the end of the state fiscal year.
