Lake Kegonsa was put on the Impaired Waters List for phosphorus and excess algae in the 2012 cycle. Evaluations every two-year cycle from 2014 to 2024 showed continued elevated phosphorus and algae. This lake is part of the Rock River TMDL.

Fish tissue analysis for PFOS resulted in a specific fish consumption advisory. A PFOS listing was added in the 2022 cycle.
