HORSESHOE LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION: AIS Horseshoe Lake Improvement Assoc.

Purpose

The Horseshoe Lake Improvement Association in partnership with Echo Lake Association and the Towns of Beaver and Almena is sponsoring a two-year project on Horseshoe and Echo Lakes, Barron and Polk Counties, to do the following activities: public education, in particular riparians; watercraft inspection (approximately 650 inspection hours in 2006); AIS monitoring; signage construction at boat landings. Specifically the deliverables associated with this project include: 1. A project report summarizing education and outreach and monitoring activities. 2. Clean Boats Clean Waters data collection summary. Data collected must include those data required as part of the CBCW program and must be entered in the statewide database. 3. Digital images of boat landing signs. 4. An example mailing that is sent to riparians. Special Conditions 1. Any new identification of an aquatic invasive species must be immediately reported to the Department. 2. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator. A draft report/deliverables should be submitted to the regional Lake Coordinator for review before finalization.
