PORTAGE COUNTY LCD: LCO-Portage Co Lake Classification - Phase 4

Purpose

Portage County wants to proceed with the 4th of four phases in its Lakes Classification effort, the first three phases cost shared through LPT-199-03, LPT-202-03, and LPT-239-04. Phase 4 major project elements include: 1) macrophyte survey, 2) fisheries surveys, 3) shoreland and herps surveys, 4) avian study, 5) groundwater welling assessment, 6) GIS data integration, 7) project coordination, 8) development and presentation of final report and educational materials. Results of these efforts will be incorporated into a comprehensive County Lakes Study and distilled into summaries that will be used to educate citizens, town plan commissions, the Portange County Comprehensive Planning Committee, lake groups and other waterfront property owners. DNR will receive both paper and electronic copies of the final report.
