Grant Awarded
A comprehensive management plan will be developed for the Ballard-Irving-White Birch chain of lakes. This project will include the gathering of information needed from Ballard and White Birch Lakes. Information will be collected in the following areas: lake history, water quality sampling, aquatic vegetation map updates, fisheries study, shoreline vegetation and sensitive area mapping, watershed mapping and inventory including nutrient and water budgets, lake usage survey.
Information from the above elements will be combined with results from the Irving Lake study to form a final report consisting of a comprehensive management plan for the chain addressing rehabilitation, improvement, and protection of the three lakes.
The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), fact sheets, public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
