ONEIDA COUNTY LAKES AND RIVERS ASSOCIATION: Oneida Volunteers

Purpose

The Oneida County Lakes and Rivers Association proposes to enlist volunteers on eight Oneida County lakes to monitor water chemistry within the DNR's Self-Help monitoring program. The individuals will be selected from the DNR's waiting list for that program and be supplied for 3 years of monitoring. Volunteers will collect samples for total phosphorus and chlorophyl-a analysis, which will complement the on-going water clarity (secchi disk) monitoring at each lake. Data generated will reside in the DNR's Self-Help data base and be used to generate lake-specific and regional reports of lake water quality. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
