LONG AND BASS LAKE ASSOCIATION: Long/Bass Lake Feasibility Study

Purpose

The Long and Bass Lake Association will conduct a project, which will be the preliminary steps to a Comprehensive Lake Management Plan. The project will be used to conduct a property owner survey, for the development of a feasibility and action plan for a comprehensive lakes plan, will communicate critical shoreline issues and water quality issues to the lake residents, and enhance the leadership and knowledge of the lakes association leadership. A sediment core sample will also be completed for a historical view of the lake. Deliverables: 1. Information and Education through Association meetings and newsletters regarding findings of project 2. Sending one representative to Lake Leaders Institute. 3. Sending representatives to the WAL convention. (this deliverable has been eliminated as of scope amendment dated 07/05/2002) 4. A website active and running with a plan for updating/use 5. Core sample and analysis 6. Feasibility study and action plan for a Comprehensive Lake Management Plan. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), public meeting(s), and local newspaper articles.
