TOWN OF WASHINGTON: Education Campaign to Collect Exotic Species at Boat Launch

Purpose

The Town of Washington, in cooperation with the Eagle River Chain of Lake Association, is sponoring an education campaign on aquatic exotic species. This project includes the placement of signs, buckets, fenced in areas to store the buckets and designated collection areas at each of the 10 boat launch sites on the chain of lakes. The project also includes an education program including how to use the buckets to remove plant fragments from the lake, newsletters and news stories on aquaitc exotic species targeting lake users. Project deliverables include: * final report including a summary of the amount of public participation including fishing tournament participants; * copies of newletters, newpaper articles and other media coverage. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report.
