Purpose
The Town of Manitowish Waters is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education Prevention & Planning project which will focus on providing AIS education, preventing AIS introductions into town lakes and AIS monitoring.
Project activities include:
1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at 9 high use landings within township from May-October 2006
2) Hire an AIS Coordinator (duties listed in position description in proposal)
3) Deliver suspect AIS to WDNR
4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinator
5) Create AIS power point presentation
6) Conduct AIS monitoring
7) Develop AIS information packet and shopping bag inserts
8) Participate in Fourth of July and Cranberry Colorama town events
9) Install AIS signage/kiosks where needed
10) Provide speakers for town gatherings and events
Project deliverables include:
- Completed entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website
- AIS power point presentation
- Position description for AIS Coordinator
- AIS information packet, shopping bag inserts and signage (including photo)
- Final report (summarizing CB/CW, AIS monitoring and town events attended with list of speakers)
Specific conditions for this project:
- A minimum of 2080 boat landing inspection hours are needed for this project
- Final report needs Dept review and approval
WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report including the deliverables as described above.
