Purpose
The Town of Three Lakes is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project which will focus on preventing AIS introductions into Three Lakes Chain, monitoring for AIS, providing AIS education and implementing AIS rapid response strategy if AIS are discovered.
Project activities include:
1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at 13 high use landings and the Burnt Rollways boat lift on the Three Lakes Chain from April 28-September 16, 2006
2) Hire 2 AIS Coordinators (duties include training and scheduling volunteers, landing inspections, AIS monitoring, and weekly entry of inspection forms)
3) Deliver suspect AIS to Rapid Response team
4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinators
5) Conduct AIS seminar for guides, marina and resort owners
6) Develop Adopt-a-Shoreline program, with vests for volunteers
7) Develop AIS educational materials/bags
8) Build 50 aqua scopes
9) Install 30 AIS signage/kiosks
Project deliverables include:
- Completed entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website
- AIS seminar
- Position description for AIS Coordinator
- AIS information materials/bags/signage including photos
- Final report (summarizing CB/CW, seminar, AIS monitoring, rapid response and educational activities)
Specific conditions for this project:
- A minimum of 2400 boat landing inspection hours are needed for this project
- Final report needs Dept review and approval
WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report including the deliverables listed above.
