TOWN OF PHELPS: Smoky Lake Eurasian Watermilfoil Control Project, Ph 2

Purpose

The Town of Phelps is sponsoring an AIRR grant to help fund a project which will focus on surveying, monitoring, mapping, and hand-pulling EWM in Smoky Lake, Vilas County. Project activities include: 1) Conduct annual early-season and mid-late season AIS surveys; 2) Conduct volunteer AIS surveillance monitoring; 3) Control EWM by volunteer hand-removal, professional hand-removal and DASH efforts; 4) Develop annual maps and report; 5) Develop end of project report. Project deliverables include: 1) EWM survey data and maps; 2) Annual reports and final report describing the findings of the AIS, hand-pulling efforts, and guidance for continued control actions. Specific conditions for this project: Annual reports and final report need Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, all maps, and all aquatic plant and any GIS data.

Smokey Lake Control and Prevention of Eurasian Watermilfoil Rapid Response Project - Final Reporting (2016 & 2017)

This report is a final summary of activities and efforts in part to fulfill requirements for the WDNR Aquatic Invasive Species Grant # AIRR20716 (2016 & 2017). Specifically this report is a synthesis of (1) Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) monitoring, (2) EWM management, (3) overview of project highlights and (4) a summary of lake stewardship and AIS prevention activities.
