ONEIDA COUNTY LWCD: AIS Public Awareness Education

Purpose

Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring an AIS Education, Planning and Prevention grant to be completed by December 31, 2007. Project partners include UW-Extension-Oneida County and YMCA of the Northwoods-Earth Service Corps. The project will focus on increasing AIS Public Awareness within Oneida County by participating in AIS educational opportunities and hosting Clean Boats/Clean Waters (CB/CW) workshops. Project activities include: 1) Set up work group to partner on AIS educational activities 2) Participate in Oneida County 2007 4th of July parade (with float) 3) Participate in Oneida County 4-H Fair (display and booth) 4) Host and coordinate 3 CB/CW workshops Project deliverables include: 1) AIS County work group 2) AIS Float and Displays 3) Trained volunteer watercraft inspectors 4) Final report that contains specifics on composition of work group and summary of educational events attended (i.e., parade, fair, CB/CW, others) WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report and pictures of float and AIS displays.
