This is the final report spanning April 1, 2019 to December 1, 2020. The report describes the progress from the previous interim progress project ending March of 2019 for the Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) Iron County Private Shorelands Protection Project.

The purpose of the NWLT conservation plans is to provide guidance for the land trust's efforts to permanently conserve the hjghest priority targeted conservation needs in each county. The Iron County plan will be used to prioritize our land protection projects as we focus our limited financial, staff, and volunteer resources to "get the most bang for the conservation buck" in lron County. Funding for this conservation plan was provided starting in 2017 by the Wisconsin DNR Lake Protection Grant project #LPT53717, Iron County Private Sborelands Protection Project.
Grant Awarded
Northwoods Land Trust, Inc. is sponsoring a Lake Protection grant funded project which will focus on protecting natural shoreland frontage of 500+ feet in Iron County.
Project activities include: 1) Iron County shoreland property owner identification using GIS; 2) Information packet/direct mail campaign \2013 provided to all lake shoreland owners in Iron County with 500+ feet of natural shoreland frontage; 3) Public Awareness Campaign \2013 includes press releases/PSA\2019s/presentations; 4) Develop Iron County Conservation Plan; 5) Property owner contacts; 6) Minimum of 4 conservation easements or other land transactions.
