TOWN OF WASHINGTON: Anvil, Boot & Deerskin Lakes Limnological Baseline Studies & APM Plans

Purpose

The Town of Washington is sponsoring a large scale lake planning grant to study Anvil, Boot and Deerskin Lakes in Forest and Vilas Counties with a study completion date of June 30, 2008. The Town of Lincoln, Town of Cloverland, and City of Eagle River are project partners. The project will focus on developing an Aquatic Plant Mangement (APM) Plan for each lake. Project activities include: 1) Data review, project kick-off meeting and project final meeting 2) Develop public questionnaire and prepare educational article 3) Point-intercept (PI) survey of aquatic plants with 2 sets of pressed plants from Deerskin Lake 4) Aquatic plant community mapping and analysis 5) Water quality sampling - secchi, P, Chla, and DO through citizen lake monitor and Temp during survey period for Anvil Lake, - secchi, P, and Chla through citizen lake monitor and DO and Temp during aquatic plant sampling for Deerskin Lake - secchi, DO, P, Chla, and Temp during survey period for Boot Lake 6) Watershed and land use analysis 7) Develop APM Plans Project deliverables include: 1) Public questionnaire and educational article 2) PI data and aquatic plant community and watershed maps 3) 2 sets of pressed aquatic plants from Deerskin Lake (one set for lake group and second for Dept) 4) Water quality sampling results 5) APM Plans Specific conditions for this project: - Draft of public questionnaire should be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator for review before sending to public - APM Plans needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of APM Plans, educational article, public questionnaire, data from watershed and land use analysis, data from PI survey, data from water quality sampling, all maps from project, and a set of pressed aquatic plants from Deerskin Lake.
