VERMILLION LAKES ASSOCIATION: Vermillion Lakes 3 Year AIS Management

Purpose

Vermillion Lakes Association is sponsoring a 3-yr project to implement approved activities from the Vermillion Lakes Aquatic Plant Management Plan. Project deliverables include GIS data & maps of areas monitored, aquatic plant monitoring results, AIS monitoring data in SWIMS, annual EWM management summary reports, and a final report documenting the project activities. Specific project activities include: 1) EWM herbicide and manual control; 2) CLP herbicide control; 3) CLP and EWM bed mapping; 4) Pre-post treatment aquatic plant monitoring; 5) Herbicide concentration monitoring; 6) Volunteer AIS monitoring; 7) Water quality monitoring. Special Conditions: 1) WDNR\2019s Aquatic Plant Management in Wisconsin guidance shall be followed for pre-post treatment plant monitoring; 2) Sponsor shall contact DNR immediately if a new AIS is found; 3) AIS monitoring personnel shall be trained and follow DNR approved protocols;4) Water quality and AIS monitoring data shall be entered in SWIMS database. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lakes Biologist.

Eurasian water-milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) and Curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) Pre/Posttreatment Surveys - Lower Vermillion Lake, Barron County

On June 4th, we conducted a pretreatment survey to gather baseline data from the scheduled treatment areas and to allow LEAPS and the VLA to finalize treatment plans. Following the herbicide application that occurred later that same day, we conducted a June 23rd posttreatment survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment. This report is the summary analysis of these two field surveys.
