TOWN OF WINCHESTER: AIS Community Awareness

Purpose

The Town of Winchester is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project to be completed by December 31, 2007. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/CleanWaters program at town landings 2) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines 3) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 4) Construct 5 AIS signboards 5) Construct an AIS display for municipal building, public library and traveling 6) Educational efforts including media releases, presentations and newsletters Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website 2) AIS signboards and displays 3) Media releases, presentations and newsletters 4) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and signboard/display activities Specific Conditions for this project: - Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, photographs of signboards/displays and copies of media releases and newsletters.
