CO/PA/PI VOLUNTARY LAKE ASSOCIATION: AIS Education, Prevention, & Planning Project

Purpose

The CoPaPi Assoc. will sponsor an AIS prevention project including public education and monitoring of launches by boat inspections, an aquatic plant survey, and development of an AP Management Plan. The project includes public contact at landings, newsletters, written material distribution, and activities to educate the public about AIS and prevention of spread. An aquatic plant management plan will be developed including whole lake aquatic plant surveys on Connors, Papoose, and Lake of the Pines using the Point Intercept Survey method. Aquatic macrophyte samples will be sent to a herbarium for identification. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of donated time & services related to grant administration. 2) Agendas of training sessions & workshops. 3) Watercraft inspection report with time & number of people reached; Clean Boats, Clean Water survey data will be entered on the CB/CW database. 4) Aquatic plant survey report including graphs & maps. 5) Minutes of meetings indicating changes to local ordinances were reviewed. 6) Examples of articles or newsletters. 7) Aquatic Plant Management Plan. 8) AIS materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact proper DNR authorities in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope is intended to summarize the scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede the application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the Lake Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft final report. The DNR shall receive paper and electronic copies of the final report.
