Purpose

The Gilmore Lake Association is sponsoring an AIS prevention and education project including a Clean Boat/Clean Water inspection program at the public boat landing; education workshop, lake residents education about inspection and AIS prevention; information brochure, mailings, construction of information kiosks at the landings, and monthly aquatic sampling for invasive aquatic plants around Gilmore Lake. Lake association members will be trained and will provide additional training, schedule, and oversee paid and volunteer boat inspectors. Monitors will receive training at a CBCW/AIS workshop. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of grant administration time and services. 2) Brochures and educational materials. 3) Verification of training of inspectors and monitors such as agendas and attendance lists. 4) Watercraft inspection reports including time and number of people reached. CB/CW survey results completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms into the Dept. website. 5) Report on aquatic plant sampling results including boat and shoreline monitoring observations of any detected aquatic invasive species with appropriate maps. 6) Report on construction of the educational kiosk. 7) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope is intended to summarize the grant application scope and does not supersede grant application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the Lake Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide Lake Coordinator with a draft final report. The DNR shall receive a paper and electronic copy of the final report.
