Purpose

The Nelson Lake Association is sponsoring an AIS prevention & education project including boat inspections at the public landing; invasive species monitoring; a Training Day workshop on boat inspection, aquatic plants, monitoring, & AIS prevention; information kiosk construction at the improved landing; maintaining educational information at existing kiosks; construction of 3 signs on roads to landings; produce & distribute AIS handouts. Activities include: 1. Boat inspections will be performed on weekends & high traffic days, such as holidays; 2. Invasives monitoring will be conducted two times over the summer; 3. Provide AIS information to the public at the landing kiosks, along roadsides, & general distribution. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of donated time & services for grant administration. 2) Watercraft inspection report including time & number of people reached; Clean Boats, Clean Water survey results with results entered into the CB/CW database. 3) Aquatic plant sampling results including boat & shoreline monitoring observations of any detected aquatic invasive species & maps. 4) Verification of inspector & monitor training including agendas & attendance lists. 5) Photos of constructed & existing kiosks. 6) Samples of education materials & distribution information. 7) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new aquatic invasive species infestation. This scope summarizes the project described in the grant application and does not supersede the application specifics. Data, records, and reports, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the Lake Coordinator. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report. DNR to receive both paper and electronic copies of the final report.
