Purpose
The Whitefish Lake Conservation Organization is sponsoring an AIS prevention education project including a boat inspection program at the public boat landing; educating boaters about AIS prevention; further development of an Adopt a Shore Line program; an AIS workshop; placing AIS educational articles in the lake association's newsletter and website; development and distribution of a localized AIS brochure; maintaining educational materials at boat landing kiosks; propose recommendations or regulations to protect the lake resources to the Town of Wascott Comprehensive Planning Committee. The boat landing inspection program is based on a coordinator to train, schedule, and oversee paid and volunteer workers. Inspectors will attend Clean Boats, Clean Waters training. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) Documentation of donated time and services related to grant administration. 2) Watercraft inspection report including time and number of people reached; CB/CW survey results; results will be entered into the CB/CW database. 3) Report on adopt a Shore Line monitoring results with maps. 4) Copy of the Whitefish Lake Property Owner's Guide to Aquatic Plants. 5) Copy of the newsletters, brochures, and educational materials used at the boat landing kiosks or distributed to the public. 6) Agenda and minutes of Town of Wascott Comprehensive Planning Committee meetings where recommendations are made. 7) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR in the event of a new AIS infestation. This scope summarizes the scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede grant application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator. The DNR shall receive paper and electronic copies of the final report.
