The Lake Comus Protection and Rehabilitation District is sponsoring a project to develop a comprehensive lake management plan for Lake Comus. Project final deliverables include: all data collected, agendas and minutes for public meetings, and a lake management plan that includes methodologies, results, and management alternatives discussion with an implementation plan. Specific project activities include: 1) delineation of the watershed boundary using LiDAR; compiling existing data on the water budget and hydrology; 3) stakeholder survey; 4) water quality and nutrient sampling at the deep hole; 5) water quality sampling below the dam, at springs and nearshore areas; 6) upstream tributary sampling at two sites for flow rate, water quality and nutrients; 7) shoreline condition survey; 8) lake modeling to determine sediment and phosphorus entering the lake annually; 9) analysis of sediment to determine the feasibility of an extended drawdown; 10) full lake P/I survey; 11) compilation of existing fisheries and wildlife data; 12) a report containing the results of all sampling, surveying, and modeling as well as analysis of the data. Special Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database. 2) Draft sociological/user surveys and shoreline assessments must be reviewed and approved by the Department before being initiated. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
