TREMPEALEAU COUNTY: Monson Farms

Purpose

To cost-share landowner installation of best management practices designed to enable the farm operations to comply with the agricultural performance standards and prohibitions established by the County's Feedlot Performance Ordinance and Subchapter II of NR 151 by installing barnyard runoff and related systems which will enable Monson Farms to meet nutrient application restrictions, prevent overflow from manure storage facilities, remove the threat to public health, eliminate unconfined manure piles in water quality management areas, prevent direct runoff from a feedlot or stored manure into waters of the state, and prevent unlimited livestock access to waters of the state.

Outcome

Landowner installed a roofed barnyard system and components to control the animal waste discharge from this facility, and also completed a Nutrient Management Plan.
