NELSON LAKE ASSOCIATION: Nelson Lake 2008 AIS Project

Purpose

Nelson Lake in cooperation Sawyer County (AIS Coordinator) will implement an AIS prevention strategy. The goal is to educate people who use the lake about the problem of AIS and how to prevent the spread and prevent any introductions into Nelson Lake. Project activities include: continue AIS monitoring program implemented in 2007; recruit & train volunteers on monitoring procedure & AIS identification (training will be made available to anyone interested); produce laminated key chains that will be distributed in the region; expand the 2007 Clean Boat/Clean Water Program. Project deliverables include: 1) Provide training agenda for volunteer monitoring program; 2) Provide summary of monitoring results; 3)Provide laminated key chains to public; 4) Provide the department a summary of the volunteer AIS monitoring and number of hours/boaters contacted under Clean Boats, Clean Waters Program, Clean Boat Clean Water data will be entered into the state data base. Specific conditions: The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project.
