ONEIDA COUNTY LWCD: AIS Education, Prevention and Planning

Purpose

The Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and coalition building. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Hire two CB/CW inspectors; 3) Host three CB/CW trainings and a Citizen Lake Monitoring & AIS ID training; 4) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 5) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 6) Send AIS Coordinator and Conservation Specialist to Lakes Convention; 7) Develop AIS Webpage; 8) Provide incentive patches to dedicated volunteers; 9) Create and distribute placemats to area businesses. Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 2) Completed AIS Webpage; 3) Incentive patches; 4) AIS placemats; 5) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, photograph of incentive patches, and a sample placemat.
