TROUT UNLIMITED INC: Reconnecting Brook Trout Habitat in Mosquito Creek

Purpose

Trout Unlimited is sponsoring a project to replace two existing culverts at the Forest Hill Drive (FR 2258) crossing in Oconto County with a structure conducive for aquatic organism passage. Project final deliverables include: all design plans and post installation photos of the replaced crossing on Forest Hill Road. A final report summarizing pre- and post-monitoring to include photos, velocity measurements, flow characteristics, and riverbed composition following the installation of the new crossing Specific project activities include: 1) Design a new road stream crossing structure that will reconnect habitat for Brook Trout and other aquatic organisms at the Forest Hill Drive road crossing. 2) Install the newly designed road crossing at the Forest Hill Road crossing. 3) Coordinate with agencies such as WisDOT, WDNR, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOA), and US Fish & Wildlife Service as needed to obtain all necessary permits 4) Summarize the project in a final report and share results through TU\2019s online publications and social media Special Conditions: 1) Prior to construction, TU will obtain all requisite landowner access and permits as required from WDNR, the USACOE, Oconto County, and other regulatory agencies or municipalities. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Rivers Biologist. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Rivers Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request
