Purpose
The Bughs Lake District is sponsoring an AIS Control Grant to Manage Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM). This will involve the initiation of a large-scale, system wide EWM control in 2021. Direct EWM whole-lake control measures will be taken on Bughs Lake in 2022. To assess results, annual point intercept surveys will be completed in 2021-2024. A comprehensive final report will summarize all project work and lay out management guidelines for the future based on project results.
Project deliverables include: This project will focus on establishing a baseline of the EWM population via a point intercept (PI) survey in 2021. In 2022 a targeted aquatic herbicide application to areas of HWM using ProcellaCOR EC. This application will be in conjunction with herbicide residual & water quality monitoring with protocols approved by the DNR. Whole Lake PI surveys will be completed in 2021-2024. Annual updates will culminate into a comprehensive project summary report in 2024.
Specific project conditions: The project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant.
