GRESHAM LAKES ASSOCIATION, INC.: Gresham Lakes AIS Control and Prevention Project

Purpose

Gresham Lakes Association, Inc. is sponsoring an AIS ACEI grant on Gresham Lakes in Vilas County. This four year project will focus on EWM management, and AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 8 acres and have a density rating below D=1. This will allow the Gresham Lakes Association to continue management of AIS with minimal state financial assistance. Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM; 2) Volunteer hand removal of isolated EWM plants; 3) Annual Pre and Post treatment monitoring and analysis; 4) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring; 5) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program; 6) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 7) Develop annual project report and a final report. Project deliverables include: 1) Chemical and hand removal control of EWM; 2) Pre and post treatment survey data; 3) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 4) AIS educational, prevention and monitoring activities; 5) A minimum of 80 volunteer hours of monitoring and 400 hours of CB/CW; 6) Final report summarizing EWM management during project and future EWM management suggestions, CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, all annual reports, pre and post treatment survey data, and samples of educational and outreach products.
