Purpose
The Town of Plum Lake is sponsoring an AIS grant which will focus on community based AIS education, prevention and monitoring.
Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and expand the CB/CW program throughout the township; 2) Recruit volunteers to participate in shoreline inspections for AIS infestations; 3) Develop AIS prevention news(letters/releases), bookmarks, postcards, a photo storyboard, AIS informational kits, and AIS welcome packets; 4) Establish a local AIS informational resource library; 5) Entry of inspection forms (3200-120) and monitoring forms onto dept website; 6) Develop partnerships with other local organizations to expand AIS awareness; 7) Conduct at least 2 CB/CW and 3 AIS monitoring workshops/trainings; 8) Send 4 volunteers to WAL Lakes Convention; 9) Host an end of the season volunteer recognition gathering.
Project deliverables include: 1) AIS Materials: news(letters/releases), postcards, bookmarks, photo-storyboard, AIS informational kits and welcome packets; 2) Completed entry of inspection (3200-120) and monitoring forms onto dept website; 3) Trained CB/CW and AIS monitoring volunteers. 40 hrs of CB/CW activities and 40 hrs of AIS monitoring activities total; 4) A Final report summarizing CB/CW, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities; 5) Attendance of 4 volunteers at the WAL Lakes Convention; 6) Volunteer recognition dinner.
Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval
WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, copies of any newsletters, press releases, bookmarks, AIS welcome packets, a photograph of the storyboard, and a photograph of the "traveling trophy" winner.
