HARRY & LAURA NOHR CHAPTER OF TROUT UNLIMITE: Big Spring 2022

Purpose

Project Scope Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited is sponsoring a streambank restoration project to reduce erosion, stabilize banks and enhance instream habitat on the lower end of Big Spring Branch in Grant County. Specific project activities include: 1.) Shaping about 4400 feet of bank, 2.) install 15 cross channel weirs, 3.) install 2 rock deflectors, 4.) install 2 root wads following NRCS specs. In addition, as an area is finished it will be seeded and mulched to minimize erosion. Project final deliverables include: UWP summer intern will survey stream characteristics, fish, and macroinvertebrates before and after project. This data will be provided to regional streams biologist. Final report (including before and after photos) providing details on number of habitat features installed, project dates, and estimated length of bank sloping will be written and submitted to regional streams biologist.
