THREE LAKES WATERFRONT ASSOCIATION: Three Lakes Management Planning - Big Lake, Phase I

Purpose

Three Lakes Waterfront Association is sponsoring 8 large scale lake planning grants to study 4 lakes in the Three Lakes Chain, in Oneida County. This project scope is for Big Lake and the activities listed for this project will be the same for all 4 lakes in this project. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Big Lake and conducting AIS education, prevention and monitoring activities. Phase 1 Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation \2013 kick-off newsletter article, AIS training, stakeholder survey, planning meetings (up to 2), wrap-up meeting, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators; 3) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program and AIS monitoring; 4) Water quality sampling (secchi, P, Chla, N, conductivity, pH, total Alk, total suspended solids, calcium, DO, and temp); 5) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, analysis and community mapping; 6) Curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) survey and shoreline assessment; 7) Fisheries assessment and watershed assessment and P load modeling. Project deliverables include: 1) Stakeholder survey, news release, and newsletter article; 2) Aquatic plant community, shoreland and watershed maps; 3) Hired AIS coordinators; 4) Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 5) PI, water quality and P modeling data; 6) Two sets of aquatic plant vouchers. Specific conditions for this project: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey should be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator for review before sending to public; 2) Vouchers should be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator as soon as possible after aquatic plant survey. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of stakeholder survey, news release, newsletter article, PI data, data and P modeling from watershed assessment, set of vouchers, all GIS data, and all maps from project.
