Three Lakes Waterfront Association is sponsoring 8 large scale lake planning grants to study 4 lakes in the Three Lakes Chain, in Oneida County. This project scope is for Virgin Lake and the activities listed for this project will be the same for all 4 lakes in this project. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Virgin Lake and conducting AIS education, prevention and monitoring activities. Phase 1 Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation \2013 kick-off newsletter article, AIS training, stakeholder survey, planning meetings (up to 2), wrap-up meeting, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators; 3) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program and AIS monitoring; 4) Water quality sampling (secchi, P, Chla, N, conductivity, pH, total Alk, total suspended solids, calcium, DO, and temp); 5) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, analysis and community mapping; 6) Curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) survey and shoreline assessment; 7) Fisheries assessment and watershed assessment and P load modeling.
