CAPITAL AREA REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION: USGS Monitoring Station on Brewery Creek

Purpose

The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission is sponsoring a project to continue monitoring water quality and quantity at existing USGS station (05406469) on Brewery Creek. Activities: 1) Collect real-time discharge data at 15 minute intervals including gage height, discharge flow, and stream water level elevation on Brewery Creek monitoring station and will display on website. 2) Collect continuous water quality data including temperature, conductance, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity using multi-parameter sondes. 3) Use automated water quality samplers to measure concentrations of total phosphorus (TP), total suspended solids (TSS), and ammonia during stormflow and baseflow periods to help calculate loads across a range of flows. 4) Combine annual discharge and water quality information to compute annual loads of sampled nutrients including TSS, TP, and Ammonia. Deliverables: 1) Real-time, online water quality information will be posted on the web at the USGS National Water Dashboard (https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov) and USGS WaterAlert (https:// accounts.waterdata.usgs.gov/wateralert/) for municipalities and the public to view and download. 2) USGS report on the water quality of Brewery Creek. 3) Water quality data (TP, TSS, and Ammonia) entered into SWIMS. Conditions: 1) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
