THE PRAIRIE ENTHUSIASTS, INC.: Shea-Muller Phase 2 Sediment Removal and Restoration

Purpose
The Prairie Enthusiasts is sponsoring a project to remove post alluvium deposited along Williams-Barneveld Branch in the Shea-Mueller Tract of the Mounds View Grassland Preserve. Activities: 1) Pre-construction invasive species management 2) 6,800 cubic yards of sediment removal 3) Erosion control on sediment removal areas 4) Seeding and native planting Deliverables: 1) Maps and photos of locations of invasive species in and around the project area before and after sediment removal 2) Report with cubic yardage of removed spoil, including upland vs. wetland 3) Monitoring of disturbance areas after rainfall events to ensure erosion control devices are intact until adequate vegetation is established (provide monitoring logs) 4) Data from timed-meander monitoring to show success of native seeding and planting Conditions: 1) DNR and NRCS approved protocols, standards, BMPs and recommendations listed in the application should be followed. 2) Draft reports, plans, maps and other materials are encouraged to be shared with the Streams Biologist before the final materials are submitted. 3) The Streams Biologist will work with Wetlands Staff to obtain expertise and input on draft materials prior to final submittal. 4) A progress report shall be included with each reimbursement request. 5) Provide before and after photos and a map of the construction area. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format. If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Biologist with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
