MONROE COUNTY: RES - Little La Crosse River Open Space Shoreland Protection

Purpose

The Monroe County Land Conservation Department is sponsoring a streambank restoration project on the Little La Crosse River that will include vegetation improvement, bank shaping and bank stabilization. Activities: 1) Removal of flood debris and vegetation obstructing stream flow. 2) Grade and shape eroding streambanks. 3) Install riprap to stabilize the shoreline. 4) Install in-stream habitat structures. 5) Seed and mulch project area. Deliverables: 1) Project design and survey. 2) Project specifications. 3) Photo documentation of site visits and project progress. 4) Compliance checks and permit verification. 4) As-built documentation. 5) Social media posts on Facebook and the Monroe County Land Conservation website. 6) Provide outreach opportunities through the Monroe County Climate Change Task Force to promote the project and share information about shoreline protection and the DNR\2019s Surface Water Grant Program. Conditions: 1) A progress report shall be included with each reimbursement request. 2) Design shall follow NRCS design standards. 3) The DNR logo shall be used for promotion and publicity and DNR recognized as a funding source. 4) Allow for and provide a tour of the project area with DNR staff. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
