Return to Search
Purpose
The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC) is sponsoring a project for the continuation of water quality & quantity monitoring at existing USGS station (05406469) on Brewery Creek. Activities: 1) Collect & display real-time discharge/flow & water quality data to the web at monitoring station along Brewery Creek to provide information for emergency planners during extreme rainfall events, facilitate calculation of nutrient loading to the watershed, identify sources of non-point pollution that may have potential negative impacts on the fishery, build water quality trends & add to the long-term dataset available for the watershed. 2) Combine annual discharge & water quality information to enhance existing datasets. Information can be used to assess various stream conditions & issues, & contribute to research which may help address various questions in future USGS reporting. 3) Respond to various requests for information by DNR, other agencies, & the general public. Coordinate with DNR & others on interpretation of data. Deliverables: 1) Real-time, online water quality information will be posted on the web at the USGS National Water Dashboard (https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov) & USGS WaterAlert (https:// accounts.waterdata.usgs.gov/wateralert/) for municipalities & the public to view & download. Data will be uploaded to SWIMS. 2) Reporting by USGS on water quality for Black Earth Creek & its tributaries. 3) Data will be provided to requesting party, as appropriate. Conditions: 1) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
