BEAVER DAM LAKE DISTRICT: Shoreline Survey and Habitat Improvement Phase 2

Purpose

The Beaver Dam Lake District is sponsoring a phased planning project to prioritize best management practices in the watershed. Activities: 1) Prioritize habitat improvement projects through shoreline surveys and data analysis; 2) Develop EVAAL, shoreline habitat, and streambank data to prioritize in-lake and watershed BMPs; 3) Bi-weekly water quality sampling May through August taken at 5 locations; 4) Conduct Biobase survey; 5) Install enclosure barrier and seed with native vegetation; 6) Final report. Deliverables: 1) A final report and associated data collected during shoreline habitat survey of 3 or more miles of lake shoreline, streambank analysis, social survey, and prioritization of BMPs; 2) BMP prioritization using EVAAL, shoreline habitat, and streambank data collected included in final report; 3) Water quality data and analysis; 4) Biobase survey results; 5) Bi-weekly secchi disk readings inside the barrier and directly outside the barrier will be shared with DNR. Aquatic plant species will be planted and seasonal growth will be documented with photos to be provided to DNR; 6) Final WRM report will be provided to DNR in PDF. Conditions: 1) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number. 2) Stream WQ sampling plan associated with deliverable #3 must be approved by DNR Streams Biologist (Rachel.Sabre@wisconsin.gov) prior to installation and sampling. 3) Draft user survey questions to be reviewed and approved by DNR Social Scientist. 4) All monitoring shall follow DNR protocols and any variations made to applicable protocol must be approved by DNR Biologist prior to implementation. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
