FRIENDS OF PHEASANT BRANCH: A Plan to Control AIS in the City of Middleton Wetlands of Pheasant Branch Marsh

Purpose

The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy, Inc. is sponsoring a project to develop a 10-year Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Control Plan to inform and guide AIS control efforts within the wetlands of the City of Middleton portion of Pheasant Branch Marsh. Activities: 1) Conduct baseline vegetation surveys using WDNR Floristic Quality Assessment Timed Meander Survey Protocol 2) Investigate soil and water conditions 3) Evaluate in-situ and watershed sources of wetland invasive plants 4) Analyze conditions within wetlands of City of Middleton portion of Pheasant Branch Marsh 5) Specify geographic units for management purposes 6) Evaluate management options and develop a priority ranking of restoration feasibility for each geographic unit 7) Creation of draft and final versions of AIS Control Plan Deliverables: 1) Draft of AIS Control Plan 2) Final AIS Control Plan Conditions: 1) Provide DNR Biologist with draft version of the management plan for review. 2) All monitoring shall follow DNR protocols. 3) Water level monitoring wells, geomorphic and hydrologic assessments, soils characterization, and wetland assessments shall follow DNR protocols. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
