Botulism/Algal Reporting & Data Management-Public Tools

Purpose

This project will deliver web-based and cell phone capability reporting systems to support the public in opportunistically reporting adverse health events in nearshore waters. These tools will be an adjunct to more standardized beach sanitary surveys, and through the participation of a broader population of observers, increase the number of botulism mortalities, harmful algal blooms, and Cladophora overgrowths identified.

Objective

To allow the general public to report adverse health events in nearshore waters so as to improve the quality and quantity of information regarding botulism mortalites, harmful algal blooms, and Cladophora overgrowths.
