Enhancing Ecologic Productivity of Milwaukee Estuary AOC Watersheds

Purpose

The previously funded NOAA ARRA stimulus-funded Re-Establishing Fish Passage project will enable fish to regain access to isolated pockets of high quality habitat in the Milwaukee Estuary AOC.

Objective

This project will increase the abundance of high quality habitat suitable for northern pike propagation (northern pike being a surrogate for a suite of species) and improve water quality in spawning areas by enhancing wetland areas.

Outcome

The project benefits will include delisting of three of the eleven BUIs identified with the Milwaukee River/Estuary AOC.
