Stillwell Creek SP-12 Project WCR_15_CMP12 (USGS # BQY41)

Purpose

Partially fund, with financial contributions from USGS, Ft. McCoy and Monroe County, a USGS gauging station downstream of a cranberry bog on Stillwell Creek. The stream segment downstream of the cranberry bog is a 303d water with an approved TMDL.

Objective

Ft. McCoy has been funding two USGS gauging stations on Stillwell Creek for the past two years. One station is above the cranberry bog and the second gauge is below the bog. The objective in continuing to fund the downstream gauge is to determine the effects of the cranberry grower installed BMPs (tailwater recovery, reservoir water level management and reservoir aeration) and fine tune or establish new BMPs to improve Stillwell Creek and utlitmately remove the segment of stream from the impaired waters list.

Outcome

The USGS will provide approved data on their website and any other documents they produce. A powerpoint presentation and report will be completed fairly soon after the 2011 and 2012 growing seasons for feedback to the cooperating agencies and the cranberry grower.
