WHITEFISH LAKE CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION, IN: Whitefish Lake AIS Program 2011

Purpose

The Whitefish Lake Conservation Organization is sponsoring an AIS prevention education project including a Clean Boat/Clean Water inspection program at the public boat landing; educating boaters and ice anglers about AIS prevention; further development of an Adopt a Shore Line program; an AIS workshop; placing AIS educational articles in the lake association's newsletter; public awareness at outreach events. Deliverables include a comprehensive report including: 1) A summary of project accomplishments/progress including watercraft inspection and lake monitoring report detailing total time and number of people reached; 2) CB/CW survey results; daily results will be entered into the DNR CB/CW database; 3) Verification of workshops and/or inspector training such as agendas and attendance lists; 4) Copies of press releases, newsletters, and educational materials distributed to the public; 5) Report on Adopt\2013a-Shore program; 6) Report on Ice Angler awareness activities; 7) Report on outreach education activities; 8) Report on AIS monitoring of boat landing area with appropriate maps; 9) AIS related materials generated or paid for by this grant. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact the DNR if a new aquatic invasive species is found. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the AIS Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide the AIS Coordinator with a draft final report. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide AIS Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. The DNR shall receive a paper and electronic copy of the final report.
