Spectacle Lake P&R District is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning project to study Spectacle Lake, in Vilas County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Spectacle Lake. Phases 1 and 2 were funded with the Feb 1, 2011 grant cycle and Phase 3 will be submitted for funding consideration with the Aug 1, 2011 grant cycle. Phase 1 project activities include: 1) Gather and assess existing Spectacle Lake info; 2) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, community and substrate mapping and analysis; 3) Watershed assessment and water quality sampling; 4) Initiate volunteer frog and toad monitoring and angler\2019s journal program; 5) Educational program \2013 meetings, newsletter articles, and press releases; 6) Conduct watercraft inspections and data entry into SWIMS.
