The Aldo Leopold Foundation will sponsor a project in the Leopold-Pine Island Important Bird Area (IBA) that encompasses roughly 15,000 acres of public and private lands and 16 miles of Wisconsin River frontage, east of Wisconsin Dells and Portage. Project will include development of shared land management goals and objectives in care of bird and plant communities, including floodplains, forests and wetlands. Project deliverables include: 1.) creating vegetation/habitat/plant community map of IBA. 2.) In combination with 2011 bird survey, analyze and develop more prescriptive land management goals and objectives for IBA partners, neighboring lands through conservation delivery programs. 3.) Host two partner meetings to review opportunities/issues relevant to the partnership and/or local natural resources, share report findings and its relevance for the IBA and partners, 4.) Share the report and land management objectives with conservation partners, 5.) Communicate to general public audience about the IBA public-private partnership.
